Sustainable Jewellery

Sea Bloom Jewellery is a circular brand, meaning that our jewellery is consciously designed to NEVER enter landfill. Our pieces are created using recycled metals to avoid stimulating demand for newly mined metals and we only use precious metals (sterling silver and solid gold) as this ensures that every item has an endless life cycle through options to fix, clean, recycle and remodel our pieces forever.

Gold plating is a chemical-intensive process which poses significant environmental risks through accidental water and air pollution. Safe and responsible gold plating relies on stringent waste management protocols to minimise the inherent risks associated with managing chemical waste. Unfortunately, chemical fires can happen, polluting the air and endangering the health of those exposed to the pollutants. Unfortunately, pollution of natural water ways can happen, endangering the environment, wildlife and human health. It is our belief that these risks can never be 100% mitigated which is why we do not participate in this practice. Finally, gold plating does not last, which is at odds with Sea Bloom’s mission to create jewellery that can be passed down to future generations.

We only use responsible, local metal suppliers to ensure that people and planet are not exploited in the making of any of our pieces. Wherever possible, we partner with other sustainable Australian businesses to bring Sea Bloom Jewellery to you.

All of our packaging has been specially selected to be as eco-conscious as possible. We achieve this by choosing:

• Minimal packaging over lavish "unboxing experiences". Like other eco-conscious customers, I am frustrated rather than delighted when an online order arrives with a bunch of unrequested items (from lollies to key chains) and unecessary packaging that I then need to find a way to responsibly reuse or dispose of. Rest assured, your Sea Bloom packaging will be pretty yet practical.
• Pretty and practical packaging that goes beyond the unboxing moment. Every order comes with a Sea Bloom branded pouch which can be used for safe, on-the-go storage of your jewels.
• Plastic-free and recycled packaging products. All of our postage boxes, mailers, filler materials, tape and marketing materials are plastic-free and made from recycled materials.

Our jewellery is proudly Australian-made, enabling us to avoid environmental impacts associated with international manufacturing and shipping.
